Kelsey & Kurt’s Simply Beautiful Chicago Wedding

November 11, 2017

When we got word that we would have the entire Garfield Park Conservatory to personalize according to Kelsey and Kurt’s elegant wedding vision, we were thrilled. We love to transform top Chicago wedding venues to exemplify couples’ unique styles while maintaining a natural and modern atmosphere. And being filled with brilliant tropical greenery and fascinating designs, this space was the perfect match to their wedding dreams.

Our experienced team had a blast designing a fresh custom menu that would excite 117 guests on Saturday, November 11, 2017.

Big Memories Made at an Intimate Chicago Wedding

Perfecting a Modern Wedding Venue

The conservatory provides plenty of impressive decor—from the looming palm trees to the vast windows, the facility enamors guests with a dynamic outlay. Kelsey and Kurt wanted to complement all that this incredible space offers. Working with Steve’s Flower Market, our expert wedding planners brought their décor ideas together flawlessly.

Natural colors used throughout the space complemented all of the greenery. The light gray, white and navy linens created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The slightly ribbed pattern and soft hue of the cloud faille linens used on various tables is a perfect example of how the meticulously planned décor sifted in with the features of the space. Illuminated by touches of copper and rose gold, guests took note of the finishing touches that polished the scene.

A Majestic Ceremony

At 5:30pm, Kelsey and Kurt’s friends and family gathered for one of the most magical moments of the day. With a majestic backdrop amplified by naturally beautiful palm trees, the ceremony in the show house was unforgettable. The intimate vibe and atmosphere full of joy set a precedent that would last the whole night.

An Exemplary Cocktail Hour

At 6pm, when the cocktail hour began, a premium bar and wine service offered guests an exceptional array of beverages. Decked out in bold navy blue linens, guests had no problem finding their way to the bar, where they were delighted by these featured drinks:

  • Apaltagua Pinot Noir
  • Elena Walch Pinot Grigio
  • Honig Sauvignon Blance
  • Boulevard Tank 7 Ale
  • Church Street IPA

Tasty in their own right but even better when paired with delectable appetizers, these drinks were best enjoyed with these fresh menu items:

  • Seasonal vegetable display: broccoli, zucchini, squash, cucumber, carrot, cherry tomatoes and celery with three onion dip
  • Great Lakes cheese board: cheddar, Swiss, blue, herbed goat, brie and sliced baguette, fresh fruit and crackers

While guests mixed and mingled, our professionals worked with day-of event coordinator Arin Calamari from Big City Bride to flip the room to be ready for dinner. Thanks to our coordinated efforts, this transformation was flawless.

A Fun Reception in the Horticulture Hall

At 7:00pm, guests gathered for the introductions and speeches. As they found their seats at the long banquet tables topped with white linens and decorated with gold and green centerpieces, the serene setting was complete. The terrarium geometric centerpieces with eucalyptus fascinated them—providing all that the geometric shapes wedding décor trend claims to offer.

More Than a Dinner—An Unforgettable Show!

At 7:30pm, our skilled chefs opened the carving station. In their always professional and delightful manner, they served up black angus prime rib of beef with horseradish cream and caramelized onion demi-glace as well as whole roasted turkey breast with cranberry aioli and Dijon mustard.

After grabbing some artisan bread, guests completed their dinner plates with a trip to the double-sided buffet. This efficiently serviced station invited guests to choose among these delicious items:

  • Grilled vegetable ravioli: roasted tomatoes, pesto, vegetable stock and shaved parmesan
  • Roasted fingerling potatoes: yellow fingerling potatoes, garlic, thyme and olive oil
  • Market selection: seasonal selection of vegetables like asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and root vegetables
  • Garden fresh salad: torn crisp romaine, cucumbers, carrots and Roma tomatoes served with our gluten-free balsamic vinaigrette

The Seamless Celebration Continued!

At 8:30pm, we served the beautiful cake by Bittersweet Pastry Shop as well as Hawaiian Kona regular and decaf coffee with condiments. Because it was so beautifully displayed with intricate greenery, we hated to cut into this immaculate cake, but the expression on guests’ faces as they took their first bite said it delivered on all fronts.

As the DJ played on, the wonderful times captured by Maria Harte Photography are truly touching. At 10:30pm, when the reception ended, we were very happy to know that many guests would head to Ace Bounce for the after-party. There was just too much energy and joy not to carry it forward.
