Now a division of Rexel, the world’s largest electrical distributor, Gexpro’s new name and identity was introduced in 2007. The 2008 open house and trade show sought to build upon this momentum by bringing clients, vendors and Gexpro professionals together in a casual, fun and interactive environment to develop key relationships with industry leaders, introduce new product lines and solutions, form strategic alliances and develop new co-marketing ideas. |
Challenges

The major challenges with the open house revolved around space and location. The open house in 2002 took place in the warehouse, but in 2008 the warehouse was occupied all day by 3 shifts. The office was also too busy to house this event, so Tasty decided to turn to the parking lot. The parking lot also presented a list of problems of its own:
- One tent or multiple tents
- Restrooms
- Lighting
- Power to satisfy all of the vendors, entertainers and activities
- Emergency services (police and fire)
- Permits, licenses and the inevitable inspections
Results

Working with experienced vendors, Tasty Catering took over the parking lot. The parking lot was first measured for maximum efficiency taking into consideration the known external influences. The event space was defined so that the trade show and entertainment areas would co-exist harmoniously!
The day’s weather was picture perfect providing the ideal backdrop for conducting business, having fun and developing long term relationships. Tasty Catering’s creative approach and attention to detail provided Gexpro the opportunity to build its brand, solidify relationships and establish new ones. This was a day where everyone went home a winner.
This event was declared a winner with the 2009 Best NICE Team Award.
