Effective as of August 2, 2017, Cook County is implementing a sweetened beverage tax of one cent per fluid ounce on all sweetened beverages. Here’s a simple explanation of what this means for you and your future Tasty Catering event.
What the Cook County Sweetened Beverage Tax Means for You
This tax will result in a one cent per fluid ounce price increase on all sweetened beverages from Tasty Catering and will be applied to new orders placed after August 1, 2017. This means all 12 oz. canned sodas will be increased 12 cents per can and all 10 oz. bottled juices will be increased by 10 cents per bottle. The new tax will be included in all our soda and juice prices. All tax-exempt clients will be required to pay the additional cost with the exception of state and local government.
If you currently have an event contracted, you will not incur the additional cost.
We hope this clears up any concerns. For any questions, please refer to the Cook County site here.
