Guests Found Incredible Food and Fun at This Chicago Wedding

A Naturally Beautiful Venue Provided a Warm Welcome

When the Sharps’ wedding planner Grace Clayton from Events By Grace began to explore Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club, she knew their boho-chic theme would fit in perfectly at this historic clubhouse. The natural wood and 35-foot vaulted ceilings that create a country lodge atmosphere as well as the floor-to-ceiling windows that provide serene views of the woodlands and water set the scene for a stunning wedding.

With the addition of personal touches including wooden table numbers, name cards and cake toppers as well as custom-designed floral arrangements by Fleur Couture, the Sharps’ elegant wedding space welcomed guests with their unique style.

Unique Hors d’oeuvres Kick-Started the Celebration

The Sharps knew their guests would arrive to their wedding reception full of life and energy, so they wanted to greet them with an exciting array of appetizers. At 6pm, our friendly staff circulated with these innovative small bites that reflect the Sharps’ fun personality:

  • Piccolo frico: parmesan cups, lemon and ricotta filling with red apple and chives
  • Beef and scallion roll: marinated beef, green onion, carrot and teriyaki glaze
  • Firecracker shrimp yakiebi: seared jumbo shrimp skewer finished in an Asian chili sauce
  • BBQ bite: mini cornbread topped with BBQ pulled pork and “slaw”

Everyone Enjoyed a Memorable Dinner Service

From 7:00 to 8:00pm, guests reveled in a plated dinner service that could not have been more heart-warming. With the charming stone double-sided fireplace setting the scene, guests relaxed and soaked up all the special moments complemented by delicious food.

Dinner service started with a refreshing Waldorf chopped salad made with apples, grapes, celery, walnuts and lemon poppy seed dressing and continued on to offer guests their choice of gourmet entrees. Most guests selected either our petite filet—parmesan crusted with roasted garlic sauce—or our chicken piallard with its parmesan breaded with shaved fennel and arugula salad and lemon buerre blanc. However, there was also the vegetarian option of a delectable stuffed portobello.

All guests were able to complete their main course with sides of steamed asparagus with lemon zest and toasted breadcrumbs or pan roasted fingerling potatoes with thyme and fried shallots. Add in the artisan rolls and sliced bread with sweet butter that we set up on dinner tables, and guests had everything they needed to linger and enjoy the good company and unforgettable moments.

Guests Had All the Fixings for a Fun Night

As guests continued to enjoy the extensive bar service featuring Absolut, Tanqueray, Captain Morgan, Jose Cuervo, Jack Daniels, Seagram’s 7, Apaltagua Pinot Noir, Honig Sauvignon Blanc and Dom. De Blais Provence Rose, they were joined by live entertainment from Hey Jimmy. With these offerings alone, we are sure guests could have kept the dance floor bustling with energy all night long. The photos by Becca Heuer show no shortage of joy or energy. But, of course, guests also had coffee, cake and a dessert bar to keep them going strong.

The Sharps Added One More Personal Touch

The Sharps wanted to end their wedding with one more unique and memorable offering. And the late-night snacks that we rolled out at 10:30pm were just that. Guests closed out the celebration with satisfying small bites and plenty of dancing. No guest went home hungry after enjoying these late-night snacks:

  • Mini Vienna hot dogs: Pure beef hot dogs served on a bite-sized bun with ketchup and mustard on the side
  • Classic margherita flatbread: Roma tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil
  • Black angus steak: 6 oz. tender sirloin steak marinated with olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs, smothered with caramelized onions and sun-dried tomatoes
